fix broken oil lamp : Loctite 1395391 0.85-Ounce Plastic Syringe Epoxy Quick Set
I used the "Loctite Epoxy Plastic 5 Min Setting Time Transluscent Yellow" glue specifically for plastics. I couldn't find a quote on Amazon for the 5 minuscule plastic one so I'm just writing under this other plastic goods also made by Loctite. Anyway, the glue is A-Mazing for what I needed to fix. A incorporate years ago (I know..) after it fell off a table, my boyfriend Stepped on my Brand New Tigi Bedhead (Helen of Troy licensed) flat-iron made of some kind of plastic (I don't know which) that was priced back then for $60-$70 (not a bad mid-grade buy since there are flat-irons that go for $200+). I forgot about it and must've just thrown it into the back of my closet, but when I moved I found it hanging out in there. I never used it, and did what I didn't do before--I looked up good glue reviews for plastics. What was repeatedly recommended in discrete reviews was an epoxy glue. I went to my local Home Depot and purchased the glue for about $6, hopeful but not expecting much. The glue from this brand has a 5 minuscule setting time, with a "leave undisturbed" rule for 20 minutes, and a full cure at 24 hours. I bound/clamped the iron shut with thick silicon hair bands and left it untouched for about 30 hours. previously, the flat iron was broken near the hinge and the plastic, i have no idea what kind it is. At the break, it was white, jagged, and it looked like what foam containers (the kind that comes in boxes for electronic appliances) looks like when you break it--uneven and brittle. I realized the iron was painted purple over a white base. I also realized I didn't have to sand the pieces to be glued, which was recommended with a clean plane break (this was not). I just used the iron today on my hair and it was perfect! Heat doesn't hit the bottom hinge so I can't see heat being a culprit in loosening the bond. I can see where the pieces didn't fit exactly together (the plastic was fragile and chipped a little) and will touch up the minuscule crack later. exquisite Product, very recommended! No mess, easy cleanup with rubbing alcohol, and I used a broken wooden takeout chopstick to apply the glue. The containers on this one is red, white and blue with purple, and shows a pic of a yellow tool box with a broken gray handle. zebra code: 0-79340-68584-0
